About Tony Sid
My artwork is all about my love of classic, retro science fiction and pin up art. This comes from a deep sense of nostalgia for sci fi works from the 60's, 70's and 80's, which include comic books, cartoons, movies and tv shows from that era. Growing up in the 1980's, I followed Star Trek and Star Wars, but also lesser known and obscure sci fi. I think I learned to draw from watching cartoons, especially a show called Force Five, a Japanese anime with giant robots. Heavy Metal magazine, which featured adult themed sci fi comics, was a big influence. Some of my favourite art masters are Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, Richard Corben and Wally Wood. I see my own sci fi paintings as being loosely connected to each other. Each image is like a scene from a far off future environment where humans, robots and aliens all interact. Check the description on each piece for my thoughts about the image. I'm based in Toronto, Canada, and was educated at nearby Sheridan College. I generally work with acrylics on illustration board. All images on this site are created and owned by me, and are available on a variety of products. Send me a question or comment below. Thank you for visiting my site! --Tony Sid
