Description
“The people of the Galactic Frontier wanted a lawman. What they got was the HOSSBOT 5000.”
There's been a longtime relationship between westerns and space opera. Both genres deal with frontier areas where law and justice may depend on a lone individual. Joss Whedon’s Firefly is an example. Star Trek had “Spectre of the gun”. When Han shot first in Star Wars, it was reminiscent of a western shootout. Roger Corman’s Battle Beyond the Stars was a sci fi remake of the Magnificent Seven, and even had a Space Cowboy played by George Peppard. My favourite might be Filmation’s Bravestarr cartoon, which directly inspired the look of this painting.
